Readers make great leaders. After the successful completion of our team pitch practice sessions, our CEO, Wambura Kimunyu suggested that we continue with the activity, and have team members present on business books that we have read.
This practice encourages a reading culture among all team members and continues to build a cross-departmental interaction. It also enables personal growth across the team members, through confidence building and learning different business-related concepts. (Being an Educational organization, we cannot overemphasize the importance of an informed team).
Every Wednesday, we have two team members present on a business book of their choice. So far, there have been interesting presentations from a few team members:
- Andrew Kithika made a presentation on Hooked: How to build habit-forming products by Nir Eyal.
- Charity Kahuria presented on The Lean Startup: How Today’s Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses by Eric Ries.
- Joan Njogu did a presentation on When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing – Daniel H. Pink.
- Peter Baraka talked about How to Sell Yourself by Joe Girard.
- Benson Wathugi gave an analysis of Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell.
- Juliet Awuor talked on Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson.
We look forward to even better, more engaging presentations.
